WHAT’S YOUR MISSION

September 18, 2017

At MISSION we always say that everyone has a story. But stories are often meant to be shared. Part of redefining group fitness for us is finding the balance between respecting the space we need as individuals to feel safe, and supporting one another in the endeavor to overcome challenges. The reasons we walk into the studio every day are different, sometimes it’s to find solace, and sometimes it’s to find understanding. As a result, we’ve started “WHAT’S YOUR MISSION?”, a way for our members to tell their stories, and connect with others through narratives and photographs. Assuming that your story is somehow more meaningful, or more singular, or more anything, is a trick we play on ourselves when things become overwhelming. Hearing the voices and the stories of others only brings us closer to a deeper understanding of our own journey.

ANNIE LOOMIS:

Meet Annie. Owner of Making Faces. Community Activist. Mom. While she’s incredibly passionate about all of these roles, Annie realized that she had started to let herself go not only physically, but emotionally. She had a wake up call, and decided to do something for herself. That’s where MISSION came in.

The first time she walked through the studio’s doors, Annie was worried she would feel out of place, but that didn’t last long and someone came to her rescue immediately. That was her first taste of what kind of community MISSION has become.

Annie found that MISSION was different than any other fitness studio she had gone to. The music, the lights, the the message that flows through the studio… Annie said that there is constant affirmation by everyone around that YOU CAN DO IT. The consistent encouragement she’s received at MISSION is unlike anywhere else.

Any major transformation is difficult. Painful even. But Annie never thought about giving up. That doesn’t mean she wasn’t hard on herself, or at times felt frustrated. As a business owner, Annie likes to be in control. But coming to MISSION and the transformation she’s experienced, has showed her that letting go can feel pretty damn good.

We asked Annie a few tough questions:

What’s your favorite part about the lifestyle change you’ve made? I FEEL MORE CONFIDENT & COMFORTABLE. ALL OF MY CHOICES ARE BETTER…MY EATING HABITS, MY PHYSICAL FITNESS. I HAVE A GOOD FLOW NOW.

Speaking of eating habits, what’s your go-to healthy snack? AVOCADO TOAST.

What is your biggest challenge at the moment? WANTING TO IMPROVE & PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER.

What’s your MISSION for the rest of 2017? TO FIND BALANCE IN LIFE.

We are proud of Annie. Period. Full stop. And we are grateful for her big smile, her beautiful family, and her lasting impact on our instructors and staff. Thanks for being part of our MISSION, Annie Loomis.
